I am often asked if we do MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) training in our schools, and whilst we regularly attend multi-martial art events throughout Europe, and I do encourage our students to experience other martial arts and different styles of karate — I do not teach MMA or advocate it for our students.

Firstly, I need to explain that we are a traditional karate organisation that believes the movements we practise are only really a vehicle for the students to improve themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. If they learn some very effective self-defence along the way, then that is a bonus. However, character development is the core of what we do. This is not the case with MMA - therefore it is better that we learn and master one thing rather than jump on a trend...

There are schools throughout the western world that advertise a multitude of martial arts taught within there schools and that is fine - however - we should always remember the western saying, "Jack of all trades, Master of none."
